Upgraded Nintendo Firmware

by admin on August 9, 2009

Nintendo have now made an upgraded firmware available for the DSi … v1.4

One ‘feature’ of this upgrade is that it apparently disables all known game cartridges.

If you want to remain able to use the R4i adapter for the Nintendo DSi, then the answer is simple … do not upgrade the firmware on your DSi and keep it at v1.3 or below.

The R4i team have indicated that they are analysing the changes to effect their own solution, but take charge yourself … don’t upgrade your DSi firmware until new firmware is released for the R4i adapter.

Unfortunately, no news at present.

There are reports that a patch is available for the Acekard2i (also available from R4i.co.uk) which enables it to work on firmware 1.4 but I am unable to confirm that at present.

It really is advisable to reject updates on the DSi at present in order to enjoy the R4i adapter to it’s full.
