Where did you source your card? If you sourced via here, then we only recommend R4i.co.uk. They supply only official cards (not clones) and firmware can be downloaded from R4i.co.uk or at http://www.r4i-sdhc.com.

If you purchased from elsewhere, then your card may not be original and could require completely different firmware.

Sounds like you are trying to load the wrong firmware to your R4i cart. The new firmware will only work on the v1.4 R4i Game Adapters.

On your DSi
 1. Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
 2. Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x(+letters)

VER 1.x is the version number. If it shows VER 1.4, it means that your DSi console has been updated with the latest firmware and prior flashcards can't be used on your DSi consoles. The firmware update on DSi console can't be reversed.

However the R4i advertised here and sold from our recommended store R4i.co.uk work on that firmware.

We do caution not to accept Nintendo upgrades to 1.5 or beyond until you know whether they break the card or not ... and then make up your own mind.

Depends by what you mean by "games".

The DSi will not play PC games, but of you mean that you have NDS Game Roms on your laptop, then Yes, it will play those ... though I suppose that there could just be the odd exception.

Of course, you should only play NDS Gammes that you legitimately own and physically owning may not stop use of a downloaded backup being considered legal in some countries.
